In Australia, there is no unified national standard or legally mandated course required to work as a cosmetic tattooist or permanent makeup artist. However, completing professional training and obtaining infection control certifications is strongly recommended to ensure client safety and build a solid reputation in the industry.

Here’s a more detailed explanation:

No Mandatory Regulation:

Unlike some other beauty treatments, permanent makeup is not regulated at a national level in Australia. This means that technically, anyone can start offering these services after completing a short course.

Why Training Still Matters:

Even without strict legal requirements, proper education is essential:

  • Client Safety: Understanding hygiene, infection control, and safe techniques is crucial to minimize health risks.

  • Professionalism: Quality training provides the skills and knowledge needed to deliver consistent results and earn client trust.

  • Client Satisfaction: Well-trained artists can assess individual skin types, understand client expectations, and achieve desired outcomes.

Infection Control:

Although specific national accreditation isn’t required, most Australian states and territories mandate completion of an infection control course, such as HLTINF005.

FAQ

Our Microblading Course is a 3 day intensive designed to give you both theory and practical skills. You’ll learn skin anatomy, brow mapping, pigment colour theory, and infection‑control standards. Training starts with practice on latex and progresses to live model work under my supervision so you can gain real confidence before working on clients independently.

This course is suitable for beginners wanting to start a career in cosmetic tattooing, as well as experienced beauty professionals adding brows to their services. Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining existing skills, the program adapts to your level.

We cover all infection‑control requirements, including HTLINF005, and follow Victorian Public Health guidelines. You’ll learn correct sterilisation, safe blade disposal, and how to set up your work area to council-approved standards, so you’re fully prepared for real‑world practice.

Alongside mastering hair‑stroke techniques and pigment selection, you’ll also gain skills in client consultation, shaping brows to suit facial structure, and building a professional portfolio. We also include guidance on branding and marketing your services to help you attract clients.

On successful completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion from Cosmetic Tattoo Melbourne. This credential is recognised in Victoria and allows you to perform microblading professionally (subject to council approval). Your certificate will also confirm that you’ve completed infection‑control training.

Microbladed brows generally last between 12–24 months depending on skin type, aftercare, and lifestyle factors. Most clients return for a touch‑up session around 4–6 weeks after their first procedure to perfect the shape and colour.

I provide lifetime mentorship for all my students. This means you can contact me anytime for feedback, healed result reviews, or help troubleshooting client cases. At Face Figurati, you’re never left to figure things out alone.

Yes, we offer flexible payment options so you can spread the cost of training and secure your place without financial stress. Just ask at the time of booking to learn more about our available plans.
