Accreditation & Certification
In Australia, there is no unified national standard or legally mandated course required to work as a cosmetic tattooist or permanent makeup artist. However, completing professional training and obtaining infection control certifications is strongly recommended to ensure client safety and build a solid reputation in the industry.
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
No Mandatory Regulation:
Unlike some other beauty treatments, permanent makeup is not regulated at a national level in Australia. This means that technically, anyone can start offering these services after completing a short course.
Why Training Still Matters:
Even without strict legal requirements, proper education is essential:
Client Safety: Understanding hygiene, infection control, and safe techniques is crucial to minimize health risks.
Professionalism: Quality training provides the skills and knowledge needed to deliver consistent results and earn client trust.
Client Satisfaction: Well-trained artists can assess individual skin types, understand client expectations, and achieve desired outcomes.
Infection Control:
Although specific national accreditation isn’t required, most Australian states and territories mandate completion of an infection control course, such as HLTINF005.
FAQ
Do I need prior beauty or tattooing experience to enrol?
Not at all. The course is designed for both beginners and experienced PMU artists. If you’re starting fresh, we’ll cover everything from skin anatomy and pigment theory to safe machine handling. If you’ve already got a background, we’ll refine your skills and show you advanced eyeliner techniques.
How long does the eyeliner tattoo course take?
The training usually runs over 3 days, depending on the format you choose. This includes both theory and plenty of hands-on practice with models under my supervision.
What’s included in the course fee?
You’ll receive a professional training kit, access to our licensed studio for practice, course materials, and ongoing mentorship. At Face Figurati, I believe your education shouldn’t end when the course finishes — you’ll have support as you continue your PMU journey.
Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?
Yes. On successful completion, you’ll receive a certificate that allows you to offer eyeliner tattooing as a professional service in Australia (subject to your state regulations).

Absolutely. Face Figurati is a council-licensed studio that follows strict hygiene and safety protocols. We use only certified pigments and top-tier equipment to ensure your training reflects real-world professional standards.
Can I bring my own models to the course?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own models if you wish — otherwise, we can help arrange models for your practical sessions.
What if I need extra support after finishing the course?
I provide lifetime mentorship for all my students. If you run into challenges or need advice down the track, you can always reach out for guidance and feedback.
