Alexandrite and neodymium lasers are commonly used for facial laser hair removal. The Alexandrite laser, known as GentleLASE, uses a 755 nm wavelength ideal for removing light and reddish hairs. Absorbed by melanin, it heats the hair without damaging surrounding tissue—suitable for susceptible skin. It treats wide areas (up to 18 mm) per pulse, targeting multiple hair follicles simultaneously. Its cooling system applies cryogenic liquid before and after the flash, eliminating the need for anesthetic gel and reducing burn risk.

The Neodymium laser (GentleYAG) affects the vessels that supply the follicle instead of melanin. It emits IR light at a 1063 nm wavelength, allowing safe hair removal on all skin types, including swarthy and tanned skin. Like the Alexandrite laser, it features a cooling system and can treat large areas per flash, reaching even deep-seated hair effectively.

Refraining from tanning before hair removal is advisable to prevent skin darkening and laser sensitivity. It is essential to consider that if excessive facial hair growth is due to hormonal issues, it is necessary to address those problems before undergoing hair removal. Otherwise, the procedure may not be effective as hair will continue to grow. Pregnant women are advised against laser facial hair removal and bikini due to their unstable hormonal background.

During laser hair removal treatment, specific areas of the skin are targeted with a laser for a brief duration. The “tendrils” area on the face of women typically takes around 10–12 minutes, while the chin area in men, which has thicker hair, requires approximately 15–20 minutes.

Patients with a high pain threshold may not require anesthesia. A lidocaine gel is applied to the skin for those with a low pain threshold or treatment of sensitive areas. Eye protection goggles are required for both the patient and the doctor during the procedure, which is why eyebrow waxing is not carried out.

After the procedure, a beautician applies a skin irritant to prevent swelling and relieve redness. Softening and moisturizing the laser-treated area with a light cream or lotion is recommended for several days after epilation. Treating the skin with specialized products such as Pantene or Panthenol is recommended for burns.

Additionally, following the recommendations within 7–10 days is necessary. Please limit your visit to the bath, sauna, and solarium. It is advised to avoid using antibiotics, hormones, neuroleptics, and other medications that may impede skin healing or result in pigmentation. Please refrain from removing the formed crust. It is recommended to apply SPF-30 sunscreen before going outdoors.
